IMPORTANT 2018 SHS GRADUATION INFORMATION

Graduation Ceremony will be held on Thurs, May 24th at 8pm at Sonoraville High School
• Seniors will report to the Building 4 cafeteria at 6:30pm. Gates will open for guests at 6:30pm. 
• MANDATORY graduation practice will be May 24th at 8:15am.
• Graduation practice is a dress rehearsal; students are expected to wear full graduation attire. This includes following the dress code and wearing the graduation cap & gown. There will be a formal class photo taken at practice. This is also a time to have your attire checked to ensure the dress code is followed.

 

REQUIRED GRADUATION DRESS CODE

MALES

FEMALES

§  WHITE button-up collared dress shirt                                  

§  TIE  (primarily black or gray)

§  BLACK slacks/dress pants.

§  Black dress shoes.

§  No flip-flops or sandals.

 

§  Skirt or dress only   (no longer than robe)

§  BLACK dress shoes only

can be flats, dressy sandals, or heels (low, please)

§  No tennis shoes or beach style flip-flops

§  IF you choose to wear stockings, skin-tones are    

       appropriate. No black, white, or colored hose.      

§  Keep in mind the robe color when selecting

       earrings. Choose jewelry tasteful in size & color.

 

 Girls:  While what you wear underneath the robe isn’t as limited as stated in the school dress code, you must still dress modestly.  Avoid short hemlines, plunging necklines, & dresses that are extremely tight

 

Graduation Ticket Information:
On May 21 at Field Day you will receive your senior packet which will contain your tickets for your guests who will be attending the graduation ceremony. You will receive 8 tickets for the stadium. Of those 8 tickets, 6 will be designated for seating on the home side of the stadium and 2 will be designated for seating on the visitor side of the stadium. You will receive 3 additional tickets that are marked as “rain” tickets. Guests will use these tickets for entrance to the gym in case of inclement weather.

 

SHS GRADUATION CODE OF CONDUCT

 Students who do not adhere to the dress or conduct code may not be allowed to participate in the graduation ceremony. Students may also have their diploma withheld & will be required to complete community service hours at SHS in order to receive the diploma if the conduct code is not followed. 

 

* Students MUST ATTEND graduation practice.  Students must arrive to practice on time and remain until dismissed by Mrs Hayes.  If all goes well, this will be before noon.

*Students are expected to follow the graduation dress code in order to participate in the ceremony.

*Students must walk in a dignified manner, making no unnecessary gestures or remarks.

*Balloons, signs, & umbrellas are not allowed, as they block the view of family &/or friends.

*Students should follow all instructions provided at graduation practice & prior to the ceremony.

*Family & friends of students are asked to avoid using noise makers of any kind, including air horns. 

*All electronic devices must remain on silent & not accessed during grad practice or the ceremony.
