SHS Annoucements 3/15/17 Wednesday

*The Varsity Phoenix Baseball team came out on top in a 9-inning game versus Murray County, winning 2-1. The night was highlighted by excellent performances on the mound by Avery Hopper and Tyler Lyles, who combined for 17 strike outs on the night. Avery Hopper started the game, pitching 5 innings, giving up only 1 run, 4 hits, 1 walk, while striking out 11 batters. Tyler Lyles got the win, pitching 4 innings, giving up 0 runs, 1 hit, 1 walk, while striking out 6 batters to secure the win. Storm Carnes had a big night at the plate, driving in both runs for the Phoenix. He drove in the 1st run in the bottom of the 3rd inning with 2 outs, and then scored the game winner with a walk-off single to right field to end the game in the 9th. Overall, the Phoenix had 11 hits on the night, with Grant Clark going 3 for 4 and Storm Carnes going 2 for 4 leading the way. The Varsity Phoenix Baseball team play at Calhoun this Thursday and then travel to Haralson Friday to continue region play. Go Phoenix!

 

*The middle school Phoenix tennis team had team wins for both the boys and girls yesterday against Woodland Middle School.  The boys won 4-1 with individual wins by Brant Bryant, Josiah Vincent, Samuel Holder and Ian Martin, and Johnathan Gray and Jeremiah Payne.  The girls won 5-0 with wins by Sydney Stanley, Hadley Harper, Kate Faulk, Megan Grantham and Hannah McElrath, and Natalie Knight and Priya Patel.

*Project Prom Dress will be held March 25th from 10 am to 2pm at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church on the Red Bud Rd. for any young woman needing a prom dress and shoes. 

   

*Spanish Honors inductees please remember to pay your $20 dues by this Friday to Mrs. Pal or Mrs. McGuire.
